In coaching, one area that comes up with almost every client, is taking the time to celebrate our successes. The more we aknoweldge, celebrate and feel gratitude for all that is going well, the more things that seem to go well! The old saying about your attitude determines your altitude does definetly works!
So, as a coach - I hope also to be a role model. So, here is my aknowledgement of all my successes in the first six months of this year.
Fantastic ski touring trips - great people, great snow, great weather and my skiing is getting better and better. I seem to be fittest and happiest when ski touring.
I got my ACC International Coaching Federation credentials. Am now working on the next level which is PCC and am about 60% of the way there.
I got three articles published!
Great work opportunities came my way: New exciting, challenging team and individual clients came my way! Other coaches and business leaders want to work with me in partnership! Wow - this feels good.
The 8 weeks working in Algeria went really really well, despite a challenging environment for me. I learned so much about another culture (a very complex one) and about myself and I met a lot of very warm, caring, fun people! And, the work I did was highly valued and created some positive change!
We made some great breakthroughs in how we could improve even further our great, free, lifestyle. We have a new project underway with our house that is really exciting, we have thrown away tons and tons of stuff with more to go, and we are gaining more precision on what we want more of and what we want less of and just by having made this more clear, things are already happening to help us have more of what we want!
I am learning to slow down! With being sick so often since May (I have had one sinus infection after another - 4 x antibiotics), I have learned that I have to slow down, take time to sleep more, and that it feels really good to spend 5 minutes just doing nothing! Now, intead of pushing myself to complete something when I am really tired, I take a break! Sounds really basic... but for me, it is a big change!
Have restarted my 10 daily habits and it brings me energy, peace and focus! I have been trying to figure out why I got so sick this summer and part of it I think was I deviated from looking after myself. So... again, back to basics. I have restarted my 10 daily habits (when I get up in the morning, I have a routine that helps me start the day in a healthy, positive and clear headed way!). The routine changes based on where I am (at home, working, vacationing) but... that is great! It stops the routine becoming a rut!
We had a great vacation with my parents, here in Europe! My parents came over to visit and we spent a great time with them in France and Switzerland! We probably also stimulated the economy by consuming large quanties of Rosé wine so... we feel good about that too!
So... those are my aknowledgements!
Now... how do I celebrate them? Well... we are going on vacation for a month! We bought ourselves some luxurious chairs. And.. we have given ourselves the month of August to get relaxed, sleep, no planning, and having fun with friends, little work.
And for the gratitude... I try to say thank you for all this great stuff, every day. When I do my morning stretching, I think about all that is good. When I fall asleep at night, I say a gratitude prayer. And.. it feels really good. It feels so much better than beating myself up for all the things I have not yet done, did not do well, for getting sick so much, etc. etc.. It always amazes me it took me 46 years to figure out that focusing on the good, makes you feel better, and feeling better means more good happens!
Well... that is all of now... am off to celebrate with some friends!
What are you celebrating?
