I was thinking about the 8 Pillars of Well Being today and it struck me that there is one pillar missing: Positive Relationships! (the photo here is of me, my sister Ann, and friends Karen, Graham, Stuart, Ian, Elaine and Uncle Jim, Aunt Dorothy, Aunt Nancie and my Mum - taken by my Dad, on a beach in Scotland, a long long time ago).
Then, I was thinking about all the books I read on these topics and it seems to me the advice all is very similar so it is all readily available, to all of us. So, why do so few of us follow this advice? Why do we struggle putting it into practise? Is there an issue about belieiving it works? Or, is it an issue of self worth and self discipline? Or, are we just too busy to focus on this sort of thing? Hmmmmmmmm.
Another Email from yesterday talked about how we should live our lives with the 3 Es: Enthusasim, Energy and Empathy. Perhaps the problem with all this advice is that it is difficult to translate into action in our daily lives? It may be like horoscopes - so generic that everybody can find something that applies to them without meaning anything.
And, to doubly ensure that I really gave all this lots more thought, I received a book, from a friend, by an author I enjoy (Barbara Kingsolver) all about the path toward concious eating and consuming!
