- Realise that you have more adult quality years in front of you than behind you.
- Think about lessons learned so far, what makes you happy, what you are best at (not what is expected of you).
- Dont be afraid of big obstacles in your way to what you want. It is worth the effort to overcome those obstacles!
- Use a support network (friends, family, professionals like counselors and coaches) to discuss those changes, the ramifications, the how tos... and ask for support in making it happen!
This is more or less my story!
- The realisation! I woke up one day and said--- if I die now, what would I regret the most, not having worked hard enough, earned enough money and position at some major corporatation or ...not having had enough fun in my life with my husband, friends and family?
- I looked at what made me happy and have designed my life now around that. It is not perfect (it is a work in progress...) but it sure is good!
- The obstacles - I am not sure I had too many, except the ones I had made up in my head... so I got off a bit lightly here. The coach training I do (to continue to become the best coach possible) is not an obstacle, it is part of the fun!
- The support - First and foremost, my husband! His help was huge in making all this happen. Second, I had the help of 2 very different coaches... helping me make the decision and then the transition. Without them, I am sure it would have been much more painful for all concerned!
So... seems to me, this new research / article is spot on! It is you life - live it to the fullest!
